Rotterdam Coastal New Years Races
❌ Wedstrijd afgelast – New Years Race zondag 4 januari
In verband met de weersverwachting is besloten de wedstrijd van zondag 4 januari te annuleren. Voor deze dag geldt inmiddels code oranje. De verwachte harde wind, lage temperaturen en de reisomstandigheden maken het niet verantwoord om de wedstrijd door te laten gaan.
De veiligheid van spelers, staf en supporters staat voorop en daarom is dit besluit genomen.
We bekijken of het mogelijk is om de wedstrijden later alsnog door te laten gaan. Daarover laten we eind komende week meer weten. Dank voor jullie begrip.
We kicked this year off with a Splash! The Third Edition of The Rotterdam Coastal New
Year’s Races at the Kralingse Plas was one for the books! On January the 6th, we got a
taste of our new year’s resolutions to the test, row harder, embrace the coastal challenges
and freeze a little less (hopefully). And wow, what a cold snowy day we picked! The
temperature and weather conditions made it more feel like a new year’s dive, then a coastal
endurance race. Some brave rowers even forgot their long thermal leggings and had to start
in shorts, let’s just say that they rowed very fast (we are still debating whether it was the
competitive spirit or the fear of becoming ice). Luckily, the finish line came with delicious
warm drinks, and all the teams gathered to warm up and enjoy their well-deserved hot
chocolate, paired with a delicious soup or a classic hot dog. A perfect way to defrost and
celebrate an unforgettable start to the season! We hope to see you all on the first Sunday of
the new year 2026 – And do not forget your thermos (;
