International Rotterdam Beachsprints

Event Description

The second edition of the International Rotterdam Beach Sprints will take place on 13 September 2025, in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The race is open to national and international club athletes and national teams and will be organized according to World Rowing Standards.

Please note: Sunday, 14 September is reserved as a backup day. The organizing committee reserves the right to modify the schedule if weather conditions differ from the forecast.

Categories

Each category is limited to a maximum of 16 participating athletes/teams.
In the case of over-registration, the organizing committee will make a selection based on past performance, experience, and any other relevant considerations. No further communication will be made regarding these decisions. 

The International Rotterdam Beach Sprints will be held in the following categories:

  • Women
    • VCoastal1x
    • VCoastal2x
  • Men:
    • MCoastal1x
    • MCoastal2x
  • Mixed:
    • MixCoastal2x
    • Mix18 Coastal2x

In case of an excessive number of applications, the Rowing Resume may be considered for the selection process.

Registration & Participation Fee

The registration deadline for the Rotterdam Coastal Races 2025 is Sunday, 7 September.

We encourage all teams and athletes to register as early as possible. This helps us in the preparation and scheduling, and please note that each category is limited to a maximum of 16 participants/teams. In case of over-registration, besides your curiculum, early sign-ups may be given priority.

Participation Fees

  • CO-1x (solo): €60 per athlete

  • CO-2x (double): €120 per team (€60 per athlete)

The fee includes use of the race boats (AVE), oars, and access to all event facilities on race day.

Race Week Planning & Weather Protocol

Sunday 7 September

  • Closing of entries.
  • First communiqué published with an initial weather outlook.

 Wednesday 10 September

  • Build-up day: arrival of boats and RIBs, buoys and course set.
  • Publication of the official race programme with confirmed participants.

Thursday 11 September

  • Training sessions available on request.
  • Second communiqué published in the evening with updated weather forecast.

Friday 12 September

  • Training sessions available on request.

Saturday 13 September — Race Day

  • Races scheduled as planned.
  • Decision protocol:
    • In extreme cases, the final decision on whether to race on Saturday or move the programme to Sunday will be made on the beach on Saturday morning.
    • If conditions deteriorate during the day, the remaining races may be postponed to Sunday.
    • The decision will be taken by the technical director in consultation with the safety coordinator and the head of jury, with safety as the highest priority.

Sunday 14 September — Reserve Day

  • Reserve day for racing if Saturday cannot take place, or cannot be fully completed, due to weather conditions.
Location

The races will take place at the Hoekse Watersport Verenigingin Hoek van Holland.
